Choose the calculation that fits your question
Start with what you know: a total and a rate, two amounts to compare, or a part and its percentage. Each question needs a different formula.
Our tools separate those questions. Find a percentage of a number, measure a percentage change, find a missing whole, or express a part as a percentage of a total. Each free online calculator shows its formula alongside the result.
How the idea started
The Percentage Calculator grew out of work on VAT Calculator Worldwide. That project led to a broader set of tools for percentage questions beyond VAT, including shopping calculations, conversions and interest.
The website lets you try the four core calculation types in your browser. The mobile app keeps those free modes together and offers additional functions with Premium.

Formulas beside the results
Calculator pages include formulas and worked examples so you can check the method and understand which inputs belong where.
Free and Premium access
Four modes are free online and in the app. Premium unlocks the other app calculators and removes ads. The menu labels each calculator as Free or Premium.
Financial assumptions
Financial examples state their assumptions. A mortgage illustration, for example, distinguishes principal and interest from taxes, insurance and fees.
See the app’s Free and Premium comparison for all functions and access details.
